Craft Festival 2022

June has come to an end and what a interesting and exciting month. Started the month with singing and dancing at the Queens Jubilee celebrations and a bit more of the same at the end of the month at Glastonbury Festival.

Nestled nicely in the middle of the month was the Craft Festival at Bovey Tracey in Devon. It was my first time visiting the festival in any capacity and was struck by the the shear amount of talent on display alongside some fantastic demonstrations by Mr John the Devon Stave Basket Maker and Jordan The Handle Harris to name a few.

Keith Brymer Jones opened the festival and gave two talks on the Friday, Keith is one of the most passionate craftsperson I have ever met.

My stand was in the start up area of the show and was surround by lots of great new businesses, the lovely Kelda Young and studio Arvor (check them out on Instagram) had some fantastic work on display.

It was a fantastic three days meeting friends old and new and finally putting a face to some instagram names the weekend was topped off when I was awarded the Tony Piper Memorial Award for Craft Excellence chosen by Make Southwest, such an honour when surrounded by fantastic talent. Thanks to Sarah James and team for putting on such a fantastic festival and thank you to everyone who came to say hello or bought something over the weekend!

Cheers Jonny
